Revolver with case and accessories, Colt Model 1851 Navy, .36 caliber, serial number 138824, made by Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company in Hartford, Connecticut, 1863. One of a pair presented to James Butler 'Wild Bill' Hickok in 1869 upon his election as Marshal of Hays City, Kansas. The Model 1851 Navy revolver was Colt's most popular medium caliber handgun during the percussion period. It was originally introduced in 1850 and manufactured through 1873.
