Pistol, Smith and Wesson First Model single-shot, .22 caliber, serial number 15090, made by Smith and Wesson, Springfield, Massachusetts, 1890. One of a set of three guns given to Annie Oakley by her husband and manager, Frank Butler. Shooting exhibitions were a prominent part of Wild West shows, and the most popular sharpshooter was Annie Oakley. The model of female independence and integrity, Oakley was amazingly proficient with all types of firearms. Stamped on proper left side: Annie Oakley .
