Remarks

John T. Bowen was one of the leading American printmakers in the 19th century. In 1837, Bowen took over lithography for the McKenney and Hall's HISTORY OF THE INDIAN TRIBES OF NORTH AMERICA. He also lithographed and printed the Royal Octavo edition of John James Audubon's BIRDS OF NORTH AMERICA.
