Chumash elder Fernando Librado -Kitsepawit was born in 1839 at the San Buenaventura Mission and was the last known full-blooded island Chumash. He was a member of the Brotherhood-of-the-Canoe and was a master tomol builder. He was a philosopher, storyteller, observer and was an informant for anthropologist/linguist J. P. Harrington. He died in 1915 in Santa Barbara.
