Remarks

El Alisal (Place of the Sycamores) was the home of Charles F. Lummis. Constructed over a 12-year period from 1898 to 1910, he built much of El Alisal himself with stones from the Arroyo Seco (a riverbed between Downtown Los Angeles and Pasadena). Influences of the Southwest ( including Native American, Pueblo, Mission and Craftsman) dominate the architecture, furnishings, and surroundings. The home is located just minutes from the Southwest Museum.
