Remarks

Uto-Aztecan Stock, Takic family, Luiseño-Juaneño language. Known dialects include Luiseño and Juaneño. Although the Takic family was categorized by Kroeber as a Shoshonean language, the Luiseño do not share cultural traits with the Shoshone Indians of the Great Basin. An approximate cultural orientation from southern coastal California with Aliso Creek to the north, the Lake Elsinore and Palomar Mountain area to the east, and south to Agua Hedionda Creek.
