Remarks

Western Apache-Navajo language of the Athapaskan language family. The Navajo lived in northern Arizona, New Mexico, southern Colorado and Utah. The Navajo lived in multi-sided wooden structures covered with bark and earth called hogans. They were agriculturalists, planting corn, beans, and squash as well as raising sheep, goats, and horses. Today the Navajo reservation spans 27,000 square miles of northeastern Arizona, southeastern Utah, and northwestern New Mexico.
