Remarks

Colt Industries was founded by Samuel Colt, who invented the revolver--a firearm able to fire repeatedly without reloading. Colt revolvers were used by United States Dragoons and Texas Rangers to fight North American Indians in Texas. Colt collaborated with Samuel Walker to design the Walker model revolver. The firm was incorporated in 1855 as Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company; and reorganized as Colt Industries in 1964 (the fireams subsidiary became Colt's Inc., Firearms Division). The Firearms Division was sold in 1990; the rest of the company was sold to a group of employees, investors, and the State of Connecticut, and renamed Colt's Manufacturing Company, Inc.
